Skin Care The Natural And Cheap Way

Friday, March 14th, 2008

By Joshua Poyoh There are many skincare products on the market and it may overwhelm you to try so many of them. Some of them are very expensive and may burn a hole in your pocket if you need to try them for a period of time to be effective. It is essential to take care of your skin. Most children’s skin is beautiful and needs nothing more than the care of sunscreen when they go outside, but once they reach their teens, all sorts of problems begin to manifest. Acne is one of the problem. Even if you are fortunate enough to escape acne, you still need to take care of your skin. Most people know if their skin is oily or dry. Often skin that is a bit oily has dry patches in a T-section that includes the nose. If your skin seems dry and scaly here, you should apply moisturizer to it, but astringents to the oily part. The skin around the eyes is more tender and fine and should be treated with a product especially designed for it. There are some fun and inexpensive products you can make from the ingredients you can find right in your kitchen: If brown spots trouble you, use a vitamin C lotion under your make-up. This will help to neutralize free radicals that sabotage your skin after exposure to sunlight. Revlon has a sunscreen that contains vitamin C in it already. Oatmeal paste. Mix 2 tbsp oatmeal, 4 tbsp plain yoghurt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp chopped parsley, and 1 tsp olive oil together. Massage into the skin, rinse off after about 4/5 minutes. This is great for oily or irritated skin. You can put a handful of oatmeal into the toe of your old pantyhose and use it to scrub your whole body, too. Mask to treat wrinkles. Beat 1 egg into 2 tbsp of milk. Wash your skin first then gently dab this concoction on. Rinse with warm water after 4/5 minutes. Add moisturizer. From about age 30 the skin’s natural ability to get rid of dead skin is impaired and this makes it look dull. Exfoliating your skin regularly, will keep it in good condition and help to create that translucent look. Look for products that contain alpha-, beta-, and poly-hydroxy acids. They will help slough off the dead skin, bringing fresh new cells to the surface. Copper peptide is one of the newest patented ingredients that works against sagging. It is an antioxidant thought to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Lastly, remember to remove make-up every night and cleanse with a gentle toner. If you do nothing to your skin will not be able to rejuvenate itself to a great degree, thus giving wrinkles and pimples to your face. Koi Pond: Biological Filters

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

By Douglas Hoover Contrary to common belief, biological filters do not process or filter the solid waste of fish in your koi pond. They continue to build up and putrefy, creating a breeding ground for harmful species of heterotrophic bacteria which are pathogenic to koi fish. As stated, the biological filtration process utilizes Nitrosomonas bacteria to break down ammonia into nitrite and nitrobacter, further converting nitrites into nitrates, which is less harmful to koi fish. Plants now utilize the nitrate and phosphate for fertilizer; if you have not provided an adequate ratio of water plants to koi fish, hard algae (growing on rocks and koi pond walls) and free- floating algae use nitrate and phosphate to reproduce. The key to preventing this condition, called algae bloom, is to provide enough nonsoil bearing plants such as water lettuce and hyacinths to compete for the nitrate and phosphate. Since these two plants are tropical and can only survive in warm climates, hardier varieties such as Elodea and Anacharis will perform well in cold climates. These plants are commonly used in bio-filter ponds. A bio-filter pond is used in conjunction with shallow koi ponds with small populations of koi fish. It will also eliminate the need for a mechanical bio-filter and a second pump to operate it. The bio-filter pond is located higher than the main pond for two reasons. It prevents the koi fish from eating the plants and it allows the water from the waterfall to be filtered as it passes through the plants prior to spilling into the lower koi pond. An adequate ratio of plant cover for the koi ponds surface is approximately 20 to 30 percent. This is a basic rule of thumb and many factors can change this equation. For example: koi fish population, water temperature, and debris accumulating from leaves or over-feeding the koi fish. I have said many times that the Koi Pond is the kois living room, dining room and toilet. If you do not have a bio-filter, that could explain why your koi pond is a tad green, stinky, or cloudy, and why your finned family is gulping air on the surface. Trust me. That will not be for long. Fish gulping air to survive would be like you — in an attempt to avoid breathing poisoned air — gulping water to survive. I have a do-it-yourself simple instruction sheet with diagrams, for building your own bio-filter using $25-$35 worth of parts from any home improvement store. The Case Of Psychrotrohic Bacteria

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

By Leon Van Der Westhuizen Psychrotrophic bacteria seem to be becoming the newest thorn inthe side of the dairy industry. Scary bit is that we are helpingthem along. “How?” do you ask? Because of economic factors the pre-processing time of raw milkhas been extended to an average of 4 days. This allows ampletime for psychrotrophic, proteolytic bacteria to grow, and formheat stable enzymes. Although the psychrotrophic bacteria areeasily killed off by normal pasteurization temperatures, theformed enzymes can survive UHT processes. This causes multiple problems and we here at Elsenburg Dairy Labhave especially seen those problems on products like cottagecheese and UHT milk, more so over the past few years. This is agroup of bacteria that actually loves the cold chain, as ithelps them outwit, outlast and outperform their competition.Nowadays psychotropic bacteria predominate in raw milk in thecold chain, especially Pseudomonas spp. So much so that when the same milk is plated out and incubatedat 7 C and at 30 C(as in Total Plate Count), the psychotropicgrowth will overtake the mesophilic growth, causingpsychrotrophic counts to be higher than total plate counts. I don’t think the methods of analysis are of much importance inthis article, because there are many, ranging frommicrobial(determining the bacteria) and biochemical(determiningthe formed enzyme). Qualitative tests are of no use as we wantto be able to enumerate the psychrotrophic bacteria. The main concern I have is to raise awareness of a fast growingproblem, that will only become more so in the future. Possible solutions are the following: 1) Ask your lab to do a monthly psychrotrophic count on allfarmers. This will identify your high risk milk supply. 2) Thermising the milk to 68 C before cooling on the farm. Thiswould have to be done with a plate heat exchanger, but would beeconomical at this stage, because the milk is already at bodytemperature(37 C) and the treated milk can run against theincoming milk to heat it and to be cooled down itself. An icebank would also be needed to finish the cooling process. Thethermising process would obviously increase the overall qualityof the milk as well, without influencing heat stability to alarge degree. 3) Very rapid cooling on the farm to 2 C, instead of the usual4 C and keeping it there until processing. 4) Using a pre-cooler at the factory to cool the milk downquickly from the 5-7 C that it arrives at, to 2 C. Get Finance Of Low Rate By Secured Home Improvement Loan

Friday, March 7th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dina_Wilson]Dina Wilson Your home badly needs various improvement works so that you can add modern facilities and also decorate it. But funds are hard to find. All those works now can be done almost instantly when you decide to take secured home improvement loan. One can utilize secured home improvement loan for various purposes like addition of bathroom and kitchen or new rooms, plumbing or roofing, painting, redecoration, refurnishing, adding a storey to the house. These home improvements result in a surge of your homes capital value. Being a secured loan, borrowers are required to furnish collateral to the loan provider. The collateral may consist of any of the borrowers property such as home, bank account etc. Lenders get a sense of security about the loaned amount when they are offered collateral. In fact collateral plays a vital role in deciding over higher loan and the interest rate on it. Normally lenders provide up to 250000 to the borrowers as secured home improvement loan. In the instances where greater loan is required, lender will see the equity in the collateral. Higher equity will enable borrower to take greater amount as the loan. One can repay secured home improvement loan in the duration that suits him well as the loan is provided for 5 to 25 years. But the repayment term should be chosen carefully. You would not like to carry the loan burden for larger duration but at the same time monthly installments will be easier. Availing the loan for shorter term may help you clear the debt early but monthly installments will be higher and the interest rate may also be a bit higher. So chose the repayment term keeping in mind your financial position. [http://www.online-home-improvement-loan.co.uk/secured_loan_improvement_loan_uk.html]Secured Home Improvement Loan comes cheaper at lower interest rate. However, borrowers should make efforts to avail at further lowered rate by comparing different loan packages that are offered by loan providers online. Borrowers having bad credit history also take secured home improvement loan, though they may face a slight disadvantage in higher interest rate. These borrowers should try to improve their credit report by adding new development, like paying off easy debts, in it. Lenders consider credit score of 620 and above as risk free for offering the loan. Pay secured home improvement loan installments regularly so that you escape incurring debts. Also you should avoid taking a loan of greater amount if your financial standing does not allow it. Dina Wilson is an expert loan advisor at online home improvement loan. Atlanta Adoption Lawyers

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

By Alison Cole Adoption is defined as the legal process of placing a child in the permanent custody of a person or a couple, who is are not the biological parent’s of the child. It involves the severing of the legal parental rights and responsibilities of the child?s biological parents, in favor of the parent or parents adopting the child. Since adoption involves the rights and responsibilities of the child being adopted, it becomes a legal process. The law of this nation requires adoption to be done legally, with specific laws being set for every kind of adoption. There are different laws governing adoption from another country. Even within the U.S., the adoption laws vary in part or whole for different states and so does the legal procedure in each state. It is for this reason that it is important to seek the guidance of a good adoption lawyer. This not only helps keep the process hassle free, but also speeds up the adoption process. Before selecting a lawyer for the adoption of a child in Atlanta, it is important to contact various attorneys. The idea is to find out the best lawyer possible. It will also give you an idea about how well you vibe with the lawyer, the role that the lawyer will have in the adoption process, the background of the lawyer and about any previous adoption cases that he has handled. Since the laws of adoption in Atlanta are different than those in other states, it is imperative to know whether the lawyer has handled adoption cases in Atlanta. It is also important to know the lawyer?s billing process. Atlanta lawyers have a varying billing process. Some lawyers bill a client by the hour, others charge a flat fee. Though there are many places to begin the search for a good adoption lawyer in Atlanta, such as the yellow pages and Internet, it is not easy to verify the credentials of these lawyers. A good place to start the search would be the various associations like the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, or the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. These organisations are headquartered in Washington, but have a good and complete list of adoption lawyers in each state. Atlanta Lawyers provides detailed information on Atlanta Lawyers, Atlanta Bankruptcy Lawyers, Atlanta Criminal Lawyers, Atlanta Employment Lawyers and more. “Is Black Belt Next?”, Asked the Street Kid Tying His New Yellow Belt

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

By Mark Kennedy I managed to keep a straight face while replying, No, there are a few colors in between. The naivet amused me. Yet in fairness, this group of 25 newly-minted yellow belts had been promoted in record timejust six weeks. It had been a special summer program for kids just out of juvenile hall, or expelled from district schools. An experiment. So, I could see how they might think the whole process would be collapsed. On the other hand, Id worked them two solid hours a day, four days a week, hour-for-hour at least the equivalent of a traditional programs three one-hour classes a week for 3-6 months. There was no gimme to it. This kid had conveniently forgotten all the hard work theyd done, although some of the kids around himstill sore, stiff, and blisteredburst into laughter at his question. Yet I sensed a dark side to this mirthful moment as we stood in the afterglow of our hard-won achievement. Sure, on the surface this students comment appeared to be merely a neophytes inexperience. But 16 years of working with street-savvy kids kept me from dismissing the pall which had fallen. What was it? The unsettling feeling lasted a day or two before I could articulate it. And it was this: there was a dangerous assumption underlying the kids basic outlook on life. Too often adolescents who have been cut off for long periods from traditional routes to success begin to look for shortcuts. They may feel like failures in one or more areas of their lives: school, socially, sports, dating, or maybe shame over their family or home situation. As I thought it over, the conviction grew that this boy may have actually believed there was an available shortcut. And that was worrisome. Because Ive found that the more kids find themselves feeling on the outs from success, the more such shortcuts will seem acceptable, even normal. So what might I take from this episode to make me better at working with and helping kids? I believe this street-wizened teen learned that he would have to work for his martial arts achievementsand maybe others as wellbut also that he could be successful by doing so. He didnt need a shortcut. He was capable. And as simple as this sounds, there are many, many teens out there who dont believe they are capable. They may appear normal to adults, or even peers, but many teens feel a sense of deep failure in one or more area of life. What a great challengeand opportunityfor those of us who work with them, whether in the martial arts studio, the classroom, a church or civic setting, or across the dinner table. Plantar Wart Home Remedies

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

By Sam Chandler Have you ever had a plantar wart that wouldn’t go away? No matter what over the counter products you tried or doctors prescription you applied that darn plantar wart wouldn’t go away? No matter what plantar wart home remedies you used that wart stuck around and caused you pain? Well, let me tell you a little story about my younger brother Joey. When my brother Joey was seventeen he was the all around sports hero of the local high school. There wasn’t a sport that he didn’t master. His favorite sport was football. And he was the all-star quarterback. During football season Joey got a plantar wart on the bottom of his left foot. It was big and it was ugly and it was painful. You could tell how painful it was just by watching Joey walk. You could see the grimace on his face. Try playing football in that condition. Joey was a tough kid and never complained about the pain the plantar wart caused him. He still played football but he wasn’t as mobile or agile as he use to be. We started with the over the counter plantar wart products. We applied these products religiously per the instructions but they didn’t work. Then Joey went to the doctor and the doctor gave him a prescription and we applied the prescription per the instructions and this also didn’t work. It seemed like the plantar wart was getting worse and more painful. Then one day my Grandma came to visit. My Grandma had grown up on a farm and she always had a home remedy for anything that ailed you. When my Grandma found out about Joey’s plantar wart she took over his treatments as only a Grandma can. She had a list of plantar wart home remedies and the first one she tried on Joey was baking soda and water. She rubbed Joey’s wart 3 times daily in a mixture of baking soda and water. That was just for beginners. Next she used dandelions. She broke open the stem of the dandelion and used the milky sap to rub on the wart 3 times daily as well. Then she used wood ash. She rubbed the wood ash into the wart daily. Weeks later when my Grandpa came to pick my Grandma up the plantar wart was still there and still quite painful. When my Grandpa heard about Joey’s plantar wart 2 words came immediately to his mouth and those two words were - duct tape. My Grandpa went to the trunk of his car and in a tool box he took out a roll of duct tape. He told Joey to cover the wart with duct tape and leave on around the clock for three weeks, removing only to change the tape. A month later Joey no longer had the wart. I’m not sure if it was my Grandma’s plantar wart home remedies or if it was my Grandpa’s idea of using duct tape that made the wart go away. All I know is that Joey was back to his old self.
